ArmorSim ships 14 armor materials covering rolled homogeneous steel (RHA), ceramic with backing, depleted uranium, composite, spaced, layered, reactive armor packs, shaped-charge defense, and additional layered/spaced variants. Material constants are tagged MEASURED / DERIVED / FITTED / ASSUMED. Plate thickness, angle, material, and spacing are all user-controlled; changing any one of these changes the penetration outcome.

Thickness, angle, and spacing

All three are user-controlled. Thickness changes how much material the penetrator has to traverse; angle changes the effective thickness and the ricochet probability; spacing separates plates so a penetrator loses energy between hits. Material alone is not enough — a thin plate of the strongest material may perform worse than a thick plate of a baseline material.

Reactive armor packs

Reactive armor packs require the ADVANCED solver to model correctly. NORMAL treats them as a single integrated plate. Pick ADVANCED whenever reactive packs are part of the configuration.

Shaped-charge defense

Shaped-charge defense is one of the 14 materials; it is designed to disrupt shaped-charge jets at normal incidence. Place it at a distance from the base armor so the jet has time to destabilize before hitting the primary plate.

FAQ

How many armor materials does ArmorSim have?

The store description documents fourteen armor materials, including RHA steel, ceramic with backing, depleted uranium, composite, spaced, layered, reactive armor packs, and shaped-charge defense.

Which ArmorSim armor material should I use first?

Use RHA steel as the baseline. RHA is documented and predictable; once you can compare RHA outputs to the beginner's guide, swap in ceramic with backing to see the layered physics.

Is RHA the baseline ArmorSim material?

Yes. Rolled Homogeneous Armour (RHA) steel is the documented baseline material in ArmorSim and the natural starting point for any first-run solve.
